What is a professional organizer?

Professional Organizers provide information, education, ideas, structures, customized solutions, systems and products to individuals, businesses and corporations, which can increase productivity, reduce stress, and create a newfound freedom and balance. Professional Organizers work in three key areas; time, space and information management providing guidance, support, focus and direction.

What kind of training do professional organizers have?

Professional Organizers come from varied backgrounds, however, there are three associations within the Professional Organizing industry that offer recognized training programs. Professional Organizers of Canada (POC), National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization (NSGCD).

How does a Professional Organizer work?

Professional Organizers work in several ways based on a client’s needs. Professional Organizers can provide consultation only services or hands –on assistance. A professional organizer is a consultant who will ask questions, make observations and suggestions to help you decide what is or is not important to you.

How long does organizing take?

There is no set answer as each organizing project is different. Length of a project will depend primarily on the size and scope of the project, the amount of clutter and/or paper that has built up, and how quickly the client is comfortable moving through the process. General length of a specific project can be estimated during the initial consultation.

How much does a professional organizer charge?

Industry averages for Professional Organizers range from $40 - $150 per hour. Most Professional Organizers will provide their services in different formats to work within budget needs.
